I rece...I'm adding a notch to your hero belt. <br /><br />I recently had a conversation with a very published poet I truly respect about how terrible Muldoon is as an editor. It was refreshing in the same way it was refreshing when Maud Newton wrote this tweet: http://twitter.com/maudnewton/status/21491362147<br /><br />Don't get me wrong: I roll my eyes when anyone goes on about the New Yorker being elitist. The New Yorker has to fucking be elitist. The job of high caliber magazines is to raise the public discourse, not sink to the level of its lowest denominator. But the poetry...<br /><br />The poetry is just crap, 90% of the time. Not elitist dense. Just pointless dense. <br /><br />And yet I still open to it first. We have a similar ritual. As a kid, I used to open my father's New Yorkers and only read the comics. A little older, the comics and the poems. The two parts I now like least.<br /><br />But aside from that, have you read his poetry? <br /><br />If you haven't, don't. <br /><br />I love you, and am sorry for blogging in your comment box.
